captivating heaven at the heart of Aurora province

Rainy season has begun. But there is no stopping The BACKPACKERS to climb a mountain, visit the most captivating waterfalls, caves and beaches, and promote some of the wonderful tourist spots in our country.

One of The BACKPACKERS, who is also a talented photographer, Frank Aguilar recently visited the beautiful town of Baler in the province of Aurora. In mainland Luzon, it ties up with La Union as two of the most favorite and sought out surfing spots. Aside from enjoying its pristine beaches, trekkers can spend their time climbing some of its hills and discovering the beauty of the many waterfalls that are scattered in the area.

Mother Falls, Baler, Aurora

There are many waterfalls in the area. The most famous waterfalls is what tourists  the 'Mother Falls'. Its local name however is Ditumabo Falls. The half hour trek to this falls will eventually lead to a worthy view of its grandeur. Its water drops from an incredible 140 meter height down a very clear and inviting catch basin. Truly a must see sight in Baler! Another falls in the area is the so-called 'Sister Falls' which is a smaller version of 'Mother Falls'.

Frank Aguilar aka King is a Backpacker pioneer but he is not only into climbing mountains and traveling. He always makes sure that these travels are captured beautifully through the lens, or should I say lenses, of his camera. He is our ever reliable photographer which gave us some of the most splendid shots on most of our adventures. He is an active member of APC, or the Accenture Photography Club.

Here are some of his wonderful shots that captured the beauty of Baler:

After arriving in Manila, we excitedly waited for him to showcase his artworks in Baler. And he made a promise to bring The BACKPACKERS in Baler... soon!!!
