The BACKPACKERS do not have a scheduled official climb for the month of May, (to give way for SURVIVOR ZAMBALES: Backpackers versus Guests to be featured in June) but that does not mean that we won't have a taste of our beloved sport; at least for some of us. We got an invitation through BP Conts to guide a group of friends in Mt. Pico de Loro in Ternate, Cavite. The three BACKPACKERS Conts, Heinz and Ivan journeyed through that familiar trail all the way to the Parrot's Beak.

Situated at the southernmost part of Bicol Region, known to be the “Exit to Luzon”, lies Matnog, a municipality in the province of Sorsogon where a beach with a familiar name can be found- SUBIC BEACH.

Just like mountain climbing, I've never thought of trying surfing when I was a li’l younger. I have never been that sporty type of girl. I didn't play volleyball or badminton or any kind of sports during my teenage years. I was more interested in arts and dancing and singing (ehem). But as I mature and explore the world, I came to realize that I’m missing a lot. So I've tried different kinds. And trying something new once in a while can give you a different kind of excitement. You’ll discover a different YOU.

Domolpos Children Deserve a Bright Future

Everybody was undeniably blessed with ample amount of endurance that day. All we needed after seven to eight hours of trekking, and soon as we have reached the "sitio", was a short rest. After that, every one was on his feet again, sorting out give-aways, repacking snacks, and preparing the school supplies that we were about to give to the pupils of Domolpos Community School. Perhaps, the strength which we had that day was sustained because of our great desire to help coupled with the thought that we must deliver so as not to put into waste KaEskwela's generosity.
