Mt. Tapulao

It was a climb that tested us in varied aspects - physical strength, mental alertness, and our virtues. But as a Group we were able to emerge from the challenges that came along our "trail". And once again, we were able to prove that while knowing the technicalities of a particular target climb prior to the attempt is very important, still, it is how the group utilizes that knowledge and the group's approach to difficulties that promises an achievement.

Because of "The BACKPACKERS' way", five mountain climbers were welcomed as new members of the Group in a successful climb to the highest peak in Central Luzon.

Mt. Pinatubo

Solo-Backpacking in Mt. Pinatubo
by Marion Erika Macapagal

Mt. Pinatubo has become one of the most famous volcanoes in the country after its eruption in 1991. It might have brought massive destruction of infrastructures and resources, natural or man-made, but its beauty nowadays is incomparable that tourists, local or foreigners, would be wowed seeing its summit and the crater lake.

The BP Gives Back: Give Love Year 2

The BACKPACKERS. BE LOVED. GIVE LOVE. Year 2

The BACKPACKERS had a slight detour from our usual outdoor activities and bonded in the metropolis as we held our second major Outreach Activity in He Cares Foundation in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.  As we delve deeper into this season of sharing and loving, everyone was very willing and cooperative for this undertaking to be successful. It was spearheaded by BP Marion as part of her commitment in sharing her blessings during her birthday month. Here, we had the chance to meet, greet and bond with fifty seven kids of He Cares Foundation. It was an overwhelming feeling for everyone to see the beautiful smiles of these kids while they danced, played, drew art and ate.

Here's a picture story of what transpired in this very memorable event:

Mt. Tagapo 2012

Mt. Tagapo 2012
by Ivan Ignacio

It was a promising day for The BACKPACKERS and friends. Despite the storm signal brought by tropical storm Ofel one to two days ago, Mr. Sunshine was unexpectedly smiling that morning. We gathered and met our guests outside McDonalds in EDSA Central. We all knew each other except for our first time guest, Miss Weng Bulaon of 'Byaheng Jologs Lakwatsera' blog. Her love for nature trips stopped several years ago due to a change in life's priority. But this year, she is coming back to what she loves: travelling. After twenty years, her comeback climb is with The BACKPACKERS. Altogether, we journeyed via chartered jeepney to the town of Binangonan, Rizal. All were excited about conquering this mountain compared by Dr. Jose P. Rizal to a maiden's breast: Mt. Tagapo.

The BP Gives Back: Give Love @ Nayon Ng Kabataan

We Care, We Share
I felt I had a very loving heart of a good Christian after I and my groupThe BACKPACKERS spent time at Nayon ng mga Kabataan yesterday and had fun with the street children who are under the custody of DSWD. Thanks Chons Zosa for this outreach. This reminded me of how lucky I had been because of my mom (wherever she is now).
